Release notes:

“Grupo X deliver soulful intensity and feel-good funky flow…epic, rootsy and, with singer Lisa Millett out front, often spine-tingling.” Ben Lovett, Blues and Soul Magazine
Reach is a tasty slice of Afro/ Latin/ Soul from cross-cultural groovers, Grupo X, taken from their acclaimed album, As Hills Go By.

Formed by trombonist/ keyboardist Jonny Enright, Grupo X started out in London in the late ’90s, carving a reputation for hard-hitting, crossover Latin grooves.
Their acclaimed albums, Latin Grammy-nominated X-Posure and Food For You Latin Soul, featured pioneering tunes, Brand New Love, X-Perience (released as successful EPs in Japan) and Sunshine, with Lisa Millett on vocals. In 2007, the Grupo X track Jonny’s Bugalu featured on a major TV commercial, across America. Amongst their fans is film director, Quentin Tarantino, who booked them to play at the London premiere of Kill Bill 2.

As Hills Go By displayed a more soulful, rootsy side of the band, with songs Waiting All Day (“beautiful” – Lauren Laverne), Big Town and Make it Alright, gaining substantial airplay on BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2 in the UK.

The 8-piece have had world-wide radio play and DJ support from Lauren Laverne, Craig Charles, Huey Morgan, Gilles Peterson, DJ Spinna, DJ Bobbito and Louie Vega. Recent collaborations with Stones Throw Records’ James Pants and Latin soul legend Joe Bataan, as well as their own performances around Europe, have cemented Grupo X’s exciting reputation on the live music scene.

“A hip UK hybrid of overseas influences, the sort of cross-cultural blend that always makes British dancefloors seem a lot hipper than American ones!”
Dusty Groove America, Inc.

“Hot off the stove. All the spices you need. Come and get it!”
